Please note that due to the coronavirus we are deferring all appointments for further care. The progression of the virus throughout the region will determine when we can re-start seeing routine patients again. We do hope that we can get the service up and running and soon as possible.

Should you feel that your symptoms are causing you serious concerns or that you feel you cannot wait for further contact please do contact your GP as soon as possible or in an emergency situation please attend your local Accident and Emergency Department.

Once we are in a position to resume the service we will be in touch with patients individually.

Orthopaedic surgery focuses on conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system, which is the system in the body that regulates movement of the joints, bones, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves.

Our specialists treat all orthopaedic conditions, including injury, deformity and long-term conditions.
Some common procedures our specialists carry out are:

  • arthroscopy – a minimally invasive surgical procedure, where tools enter the joint through a small incision and is used to examine and treat damage of connective joint tissue such as cartilage and ligaments
  • arthroplasty – an orthopaedic surgery that replaces or resurface joints, and is used to relieve pain and restore function to the joint the procedure is carried out on repairing damaged joint and connective tissue (ligaments, cartilage, muscle)

Our surgeons research and use the latest technology for orthopaedic procedures.

Focusing on your health and recovery throughout your care with us is as important as the surgery itself. In addition to answering questions about the procedures, we will help you plan for a healthy lifestyle to support your recovery. The expected outcomes of orthopaedic surgery include an improved range of movement and mobility, elimination or minimisation of pain, the ability to weight bear and the ability to return to former activities.
